NDIS Support Coordination in Liverpool

Liverpool has around 200,000 residents and one of the highest proportions of culturally and linguistically diverse residents in Sydney. More than a third of South Western Sydney residents come from a CALD background, compared with roughly a quarter across New South Wales.

Overview

We coordinate across Liverpool, Casula, Green Valley, Miller, Ashcroft, Sadleir, Cabramatta, Canley Vale and Moorebank.

What we see

What we see in Liverpool

Coordination here is frequently the first time anyone has explained the scheme to a family in a language they use at home. Interpreters help, but a coordinator who speaks the language directly gets to the real problem faster. We work in Hindi and Nepali as well as English.

Liverpool also has a large refugee-background population, and trauma changes how people experience NDIS processes. Assessments ask people to describe their worst functioning to a stranger, repeatedly. That is difficult for anyone and harder for someone whose history includes persecution.

Liverpool Hospital houses one of the state’s brain injury rehabilitation units. Participants leaving brain injury rehabilitation often have significant funding and no active implementation, and the delay shows up as a longer stay or a readmission. We work in that window.

In Liverpool we provide support coordination, specialist support coordination and psychosocial recovery coaching.
